JP’s Jake the Snake, and Whisky wheels

Jun 30, 2015

We spruced up JP’s new Jake the Snake with some sick new wheels, drivetrain, and handlebars. Wider range 11-32t cassette with a Wolf Tooth narrow wide chainring, the new Cowchipper handlebar from Salsa, and DT Swiss 240 hubs laced to the Whisky No. 7 carbon rims. I was super pleased with how well the rims built up, and the overall practicality of a 32 hole wide profile carbon rim. Not sacrificing durability, but still with significant weight savings, they are perfect for a bombproof, traditionally spoked wheel. The No. 7 rim retails for $395. Also very glad to see Salsa release the Cowchipper handlebar- it offers a setup that hasn’t been available as a dirt drop before. We have always liked the Cowbell, but wished that it was a little more flared for off-road applications.┬áTurns out that’s exactly what Salsa has done. $75 per handlebar. In stock, too!

We always like to dial in bikes to folks’ specific needs, and as always are more than happy to talk about changes you would like with your current bikes. !
